“Give me some sunshine,
Give me some rain;
Give me another chance,
I wanna grow up once again.”

This song was on Top 10 lists when the music of “3 Idiots” released; I can guess the reason; because everyone can connect his life with this song. The song is true indeed, yes we all want to become kid all over again. You will agree with me. This is total irony, when we were kids, all of us want to become grown ups and once we grow, we learn that the best time of our life has gone. It is now past and will never return. One day, I was humming this song when my colleague asked me, “Do you really feel this way?”

I was kind a lost for words, no, I was not looking for the answer, indeed it was yes but yet I was unable to answer him because my brain always thinks against feelings from my heart. “Yes, I do feel the same way, but you cannot do anything. Right?” I answered him. “Its just a song and I feel somewhere in my heart that this true but I can’t help it. It is past and it is gone.”

Sometimes I feel if life could really be like an hour-glass where you can re-live every hour. Interesting invention it is, time goes ahead yet it replays itself. I wish I could be the sand in that glass, which enjoys living in the same container it was in an hour ago. Speaking practically, we do live like this, time goes ahead, yet we always think about our past. If I could re-live that instance I will change it and will have a better future. And with these thoughts we screw up are present and in turn our future.

We cannot turn the time, we will land there, where our destiny takes us. I just can’t stop me from connecting this blog post with the movie “The Butterfly Effect”. Especially, when I have watched it. The writers Eric Bress and J. Mackye Gruber has done justice to The Chaos Theory: “It has been said that something as small as the flutter of butterfly’s wing can ultimately cause a typhoon halfway around the world.” The movie was about “How a small change in your past can become disastrous to your present and future.” I bet on that if someone has such an ability everyone will turn up to have his past changed and I can definitely say that they will land up in a disaster.

So, let us not think about changing our pasts, let us work towards changing our present and hope for a better tomorrow.

The T-Bend

I do not know if someone has ever said, “Life is like a Road Journey,” but I totally agree to it. It is indeed a road journey, sometimes it is a smooth ride, you can control the pace of your life. As soon as you think that you have full control of your journey, a hump comes and slows you down forcing you to slower your pace, to take over your control. And when you think you are about to reach your destination, a bend comes and gives you whole new challenges to face. In the end, around all the corners you reach your destination, a fulfilled dream.

But, what about those who do not have any destination, any dream to fulfill? Some will say that they do not have any ambition in their lives. I ask them do they need one? I say, They achieve more than they crave for; they get more opportunities to choose from.

Most of the times, I journeyed without an ambition. The road at every step was a new experience and a new lesson to learn. A right bend came and I turned right and turned left on the left bend. When I journeyed enough smoothly and roughly on the same road, it appeared to me that I am approaching a dead end. But as I drove near to it, I understood that life has laid a couple of opportunities for me. The end which I took for a dead end, on the contrary, was a T-bend (Y-end). The life was asking me which bend to take? If I would have been Robert Frost, I would have taken the road which was less travelled. But I do not know which road I took, but I do took a road. And I moved on, ready to face new challenges, ready to learn new lessons and ready to experience new adventures.

After a long time, I think my life is approaching a T-end and I am still unaware of the opportunities that lay ahead.

It was Thursday and my friend was planning weekend plan to watch a picture. Over phone we decided to watch “Rocket Singh.” After that call he called me again and told me that all evening shows are costly. They are charging 200 bucks for premier class (lower stall basically). “Shit! That’s too costly for a premier call” were my words when I heard that news and asked him to check the morning show.

After 5 more minutes he called me back and said, “Gold class is available for 11:30 show.”

“How much they are charging??”

“200 bucks”

“Get it booked straight away. We will not get this lucky chance again.”

After 2 minutes he spoke, “Saturday, 11:30 done.”

“Good, see you on Saturday!!”

And now all we have to do was wait for Saturday.

The Day Finally Came

“Are you sure they will have these chairs in Gold Class,” he said to me looking at the sample chair kept outside the theatre.

“I hope so” I replied as I was not sure as well, I have just heard from others.

Finally, we went inside the Gold class section. I went up to their food counter to check the price list, specifically popcorn, whether it is same as compared to regular class or they are just making more money from it :D. But I never came to know about that because all they were providing only combos inside gold class cafeteria.

Disappointedly I went inside the hall where picture was scheduled to play. When I reached the altar, I felt “Royally Shocked,” shocked because they have front row at a distance of say 3-4 feet from the screen as compared to the notion I had in my mind.

Yes, the feeling was totally Royal as there were only those chairs; the one which my friend was talking about and the one which you see in massage parlours; placed on Golden Carpet. We were helped by one of their personnel to get our seats.

Those seats were very comfortable and spacious. The best features was that you can adjust the chair in such a manner that you can lie down flat on them and enjoy your picture.

The whole experience was mesmerizing as if you are watching picture in home on your bed with 70 mm screen. To add more to it they provide you a cushion and quilt to save your back and to save you from the chilled ambience, also, if picture is boring you can get a good nice sleep.

My 200 bucks were worth for my Golden Experience. Is yours??

Its been more than a year since I am blogging. Over this time span I have considered few rules of blogging. In this blog post I am trying to pen down those rules.

As a Writer you should

1. Mind your Vocabulary

Which one is simple “Glistening Scintillating Diminutive Asterisk” or “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star?” Just like that try to use less vocabulary, put it other way around, use common words. This will make your post simple and will make meaning to a larger audience. If you use too many complex words, reader may get distracted and stop reading your posts.

2. Connect with your Readers

“Socializing??” Not your thing?? Neither Mine!! 😀

I am not advising you to socialize with your readers but at least say a “Thanks!!” for their comments. This will make them feel that you are interested not only in publishing posts but your readers as well. Discuss about your posts with them, clarify their doubts, elaborate more on your posts.

So, do not “Socialize” rather “Get Connected.”

3. Connect with other Blogs

“References” are the best way to support your arguments. Share with your readers the view of others on your topic. Provide necessary links in your posts.

4. Maintain Post Frequency

Do not publish too many or too less posts on your blog. You need to keep up the frequency of your posts. If you are publishing too many posts in a week, say 50, your reader may not be able to follow you and your posts. If you are publishing fewer posts, say 0-1 per week, you readers may get distracted from your blog.

“This is the one thing I need to Increase.” 😀

As a Reader you should

1. Comment on the post you read

Writers always have a room to improve and your comments are the best medicine for it. While commenting make sure that your comments are not too harsh that one stops writing or too soft that writer feels that whatever he is writing is correct.

2. Share your Blogs and others’ Blog

If you have written similar to the topic you have read, share it with the post. If you have read the similar thing somewhere else share it as well. Just remember one thing “Knowledge Increases with Sharing.”

I have tried to keep things as simple as possible. I have written the basic rules. People give more rules, list of these blogs is Google away, I haven’t gone through it. But I would like to share these six rules of blogging.

Happy Blogging!!!

Bangalore’s Volvo bus has become a part of my daily routine. I am using this service from past one year for commuting between home & office and on weekends to roam around. Though there have been many changes but one thing that has not changed is the activities people involve themselves while travelling and I am no different. Based on different activities I have categorized them. Here goes my list:

  1. You love sitting by the window and look outside, staring into nothing, thinking about anything or nothing at all, totally unaware what is happening outside. You are my personal favourite “Silent Traveller.”

  2. How big your headphones can go? Or What kind of earphones you have? Which song is playing in your i-Pod that you are humming and shaking your heads? Whatever it is, I like you “Happy-go-Lucky Traveller.”

  3. Why are you talking so much? You are disturbing others. It’s been 20 minutes you are in this call. You are my least favourite “Irritating Traveller.”

  4. Just let me know the Title of the book you are reading. I’ll check if I have read this one or not. Oh! “Bookworm Traveller” close your book once.

  5. So, music and novel is your pick. What say “Bookworm” are you becoming “Happy-go-Lucky?” (I am unable to think of a name at the moment)

  6. Look at the gadget he got; She is damn beautiful. Oh! My “Watchman Traveller” stop observing others.

  7. Last but not the least is the group similar to above one with a difference that they write their observation on the blog. I do not know if anyone else is doing it but I just did.:D Please give me some name!!!

PS. I have captured very few categories as far as I remember. If you have one let me know.

PPS. I have used a different writing style for this post. Please comment about it.

Identifying Oneself

I am part of the Toastmasters Club in my organization. So as part of this club we need to attend meetings, deliver speeches. No, it was not my time to present a speech but I was evaluating one this time.

This lady was scheduled to give her 2nd speech (as per Toastmasters guidelines it is categorized as “Organizing your speech” and they have discussed how it should be constructed). Here is the summarized version of her speech:

Lessons Learned from my first Non-living Child

A question was put in front of the audience to guess the non-living child and it was none other than her first car. As she walked through the speech, she made us count various experiences of her with the car of hers; How she got first dent on the first day of the car? How she overcome the nervousness afterward? How others were afraid of her driving? How she drove her car without oil in it for days and got lucky on not burning the engine? and few more.

It was an ordinary speech that you can hear anywhere else, but what was extraordinary about it was its conclusion and hidden message.

Things for you will get worst or smooth as you take road ahead. Patience is the factor that keeps you going.

I don’t remember the exact conclusion, so I have phrased it myself on the similar grounds. However, there were certain factors that I found were hidden in the speech (I am not aware of others) were ‘Learn from your mistakes’ and ‘Self-Confidence.’

I was very delighted the way she has delivered her message. Most of us use the same technique of stating one’s experience and conclude the  lesson you have learned, and most of the times we tend to cite examples from Life of big personalities.

The fact that I liked about her speech was  the usage of her own life experience and not from others’ life. By “others” I mean Big Personalities. The point I would like to bring out is “You can never forget the lessons you learn from your own experience and you can never remember the lessons learned others’ experience.

Many people say that they follow him/her as their role model. I say “Create a Role Model in yourself” “Take a different road and let others follow” and if there are no followers don’t get disappointed because “Best paths in Life are trodden alone.”

Start Thinking!!!
